Review Game

Invent a new review game for the end of a chapter. How would it be structured? Would there be a clearly-defined winner? Make sure this game incorporates everyone in the class, where everyone is actively reviewing the material on some level.

  1. Divide the class in 4 groups in order to make a two separate game with two teams. We will play game with the card we had made full of binomials and trinomials faced down. Furthermore, two cards with multiplication and division will be faced down. One team chooses 4 cards with binomials and trinomials in order to make 2 fractions. Also, the team will choose the card whether it is multiplication or division. Therefore, the other team will solve the question. If it is right, point for the team, if it is wrong, no points. There will be no clear defined winner if both teams get everything correct.

  2. The new game will be composed of 2 teams (split in any way) and those two teams will compete to answer a question before the other team. The team that gets the question gets a point, and the team with most points in the end wins, and gets a candy per person. Even if the teams are not equal, it is just a matter of not getting candy, and working in a group let's a member learn other member's strategies. Also after the answer is given the whole process will be shown on the board to let people who didn't understand learn. There will be a clear winner.

  4. Divide the class into two different teams. Each person makes a question of their own and swaps the question with someone else on the other team. After answering the question, swap back and the team who has the most correct answers will win the game.

  5. We could divide the class in four equal groups, and make them come up with a particular question (not from the textbook or something we went over in class) that they thought of with their groups members. They would pass the questions around each of the other groups, and they must answer within a particular amount of time. But it would not be checked if the whole group did not cooperate and only one person had solved the problem. The group with most of the questions correct will win.

  6. Make many cards and write questions of many levels with points on the back according to the difficulty and put it into a hat. Make two teams and have one team draw a question from a hat. One representative of that team would solve it on the front whiteboard while the other team discusses it together secretly. If he or she gets it right in the limited time, the team will earn the points written on the card. If he or she doesn't, the other team appoints a representative to solve in on the whiteboard from the secret discussion that they had while the first team representative was solving. If the team 2 gets it right, they will earn half of the points the card had stated. After, switch representatives who would solve another question out of the hat. In the end, one team would win.

  7. Mr. Jobe will write the hardest questions that involves every aspect of the chapter. Then the students will write their answers on a sheet of paper and turn it in after being checked the people who got them write will receive a candy. For the people who got it wrong, Mr. Jobe will explain a similar question. Then if the people who got it wrong had corrected them he will also give them a candy. However, theny must correct it within 1 minute.

  8. There will be two teams and a box for each. Mr. Jobe will give a problem and each team members will put their answers in their box. After everyone put theirs in the box, Mr. Jobe will pick one paper from the box without looking. And if the answers are right, one of the team member has to go to the board and write the process of the question. If the team member gets the process wrong, then another team member has to go up and write the process. They have to do it again and again until they get it right. The first team that gets the question right wins the game!

  9. Divide the class into 4 groups and give problems to a group one at a time. If the group gets the problem right, the next team gets to solve the problem. If the group gets the problem right, they get to get another question. If the team got two questions right in a row, the next team gets to go. There might not be a clearly defined winner because some teams may get the same amount of questions right.

  10. Make Mr. Jobe assign each student of the class very hard questions of the year. And start by having tournaments that goes up higher and higher. The winner gets a candy. Every question has a time limit which is exactly 1 minute sharp. If the question is not solved in time, it is wrong, when not shown work, it's wrong. When questions are being presented, Mr. Jobe will prepare written versions of questions and the questions should be presented at exact same time.

  11. The two teams receive a worksheet or a sheet with several questions and all of the students need to form a circle for each team and solve the question as quickly as they can. After one person finishes one question, he or she would pass it on to one of their teammates so that they can solve the next question. All of the team members need to solve at least one question from the sheet of questions. The team that finishes the sheet of questions first will receive candy from Mr. Jobe.
